Apparently afraid for their pensions, nine former Drug Enforcement Agency administrators have called on President Obama to sue should California legalize marijuana. In a letter addressed to Attorney General Eric Holder, the former DEA jackboots officials wrote that the legalization of marijuana would “challenge federal authority.”
The DEA washouts liken the legalization of pot to steps against illegal immigration taken in Arizona, calling for the Obama Administration to take a similar stance should Proposition 19 pass in California.
Of course, even if the Justice Department were to promise they would not sue California were Prop 19 to pass, it’s doubtful anyone could take their word for it. They promised not to continue raids on medical marijuana dispensaries operating legally within states that allow them, but have continued to do so anyway.
