Myth, Power, and Deception in American History

by Andrew P. Napolitano

This is the latest book from Judge Napolitano, showing how government freedom-grabbing and the courts’ complicity have teamed to suppress our rights and freedoms. Napolitano painstakingly details the lies told to pass legislation that is then used to do all the things it’s often said to be protecting us from.

The book is extremely in-depth and very well-researched. Exactly what you’d expect from Napolitano. He pulls no punches and doesn’t leave any stone unturned in his legal analysis of how things happened and how the government got away with them.

His writing style is a little dry and can get boring, so if you’re not really looking for this kind of deep information and background, you likely won’t enjoy this book. I’ll be honest and say that it was a tough slog for me. Although the information was enlightening, it’s not exactly compelling to read.

For anyone who’s a pundit on what governments should and shouldn’t do, down to the detail, however, this book is a must-have. It includes a nice introduction by Representative Ron Paul, a good friend of Napolitano and frequent guest on his TV show.

Overall, the book is worth having and reading, but don’t expect to blow through it in a few hours. Even those who relish the information within will be required to go slowly to absorb the huge amount of stuff presented.
