‘See Something Say Something Act’ Makes US into East Germany

by Aaron Turpen, Truth2America

The War on Terror has been going on for a decade and since the 9/11/2001 attacks, more and more Police State governance has been foisted on the American people in the name of “keeping us safe.”

From the USA PATRIOT Act to the huge deficits in the name of waging half a dozen wars overseas, we’ve been paying dearly for the attacks that leveled the Twin Towers and Building 7.  With each new price we pay, we sink further into the Gulag and farther away from the ideals our nation was founded upon.

Now, Representative Peter King (R-NY) has proposed the next level in the furtherance of the American Gulag: The See Something Say something Act.

This wonderful piece of (I’ll refrain myself and use the PC term) legislation wants to encourage Americans to report information on their neighbors that might be of interest to authorities and to give those who do so immunity from lawsuits.  In other words, if you don’t like someone, you can “report” them for suspicious behavior (real or fictional) and have them “investigated” and face no repercussions for committing this happy act of harassment using government agents as your goonish intermediaries.

Wow. Either Rep. King is a student of German history or is woefully unschooled on Cold War history.  In either case, he definitely shouldn’t be in Congress because he’s either an evil tyrant wannabe or never completed the 8th grade.  You decide which one you think it is, but since he’s in D.C., I’m going to bet on the first option.

Here’s a part of this East German inspired legislation:

(1) IN GENERAL- Any person who, in good faith and based on objectively reasonable suspicion, makes, or causes to be made, a voluntary report of covered activity to an authorized official shall be immune from civil liability under Federal, State, and local law for such report.

That nice little term “covered activity” is later defined in the bill as meaning any suspicious “transaction, activity, or occurrence indicating that an individual may be engaging, or preparing to engage, in a violation of law relating to an act of terrorism” as defined in Title 18 Section 307 of the US Code.

“Act of Terrorism” is defined that section as being basically anything that any government agent decides is meant to “coerce” or “intimidate” the civilian population, influence a policy of government by intimidation or coercion, or to affect the conduct of government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping.

In other words, an act of terrorism is anything resembling a political protest or threat to not vote for, vote for, not pay for, pay for, or otherwise use the right of free speech to make political change.

So, in honor of the obvious intent of this new bill from Rep. King of New York, we here at Truth2America.com have decided to rename the bill to

The Reinstatement and Legalization of the
East German Stasi in America Act
