Information released by the CIA and supposedly gathered from the compound where Osama bin Laden was said to have been killed by operatives last week, indicated that Al Qaeda plans to attack railways in the U.S. This news prompted Democratic Senator Charles Schumer to propose new security measures for Amtrak stations.
The unquestioning corporate media immediately broadcast the information in a flurry of scare-mongering pundits and un-vetted government information.
Their work, which was to drum up new fears of terrorism, have culminated in Schumer introducing legislation to establish new “security checkpoints” at all Amtrak stations in America.
This, of course, would require even more tax dollars be given to Amtrak, which already receives heavy government subsidy to stay in business. All in the name of “safety” and “security,” of course.
The first thing they want to create? A “No Ride List” similar to (and based from) the TSA’s No Fly List – a list that is so rife with errors and lack of common sense that it keeps 4 years olds and old ladies from being able to get on a plane. Even the late Senator Ted Kennedy ended up on the list and had to use all of his power as a U.S. Senator to get removed (something the rest of us can’t do).
It’s just more Hegelian Dialectic (problem-reaction-solution) in action, folks. They create a problem, give a huge public reaction to make it appear to be more than it is, then offer a solution that abridges freedom and destroys liberty.
