Another instance of police brutality caught on camera.
The reason most police don’t want you video taping them is because if their actions aren’t on tape, they most likely will not be held accountable for their police beatings.
The cop in this video, officer Colling of the Las Vegas Police, has killed 2 people in the last 5 years and this beating is just the latest addition to his resume.
Derek Colling might be the most dangerous (active) cop in the united states. In less than 5 years as a police office Colling has killed two, including one 15 year old boy, and was just caught on film beating a man for filming him – great write up and back story at Carlos Miller’s site. Of course Colling charged Mitchell Crooks with assault on a police officer, a complete lie as the video shows.
In this instance the cop lied and filed charges against the man for aggravated assault when he was doing nothing more than filming the police from his own driveway. CBS reports:
According to the newspaper, the incident occurred on the night of March 20, when the 36-year-old Crooks was in his driveway videotaping police as they investigated a burglary report across the street. Crooks said that when he refused to stop filming, Colling arrestedand beat him, with much of the altercation recorded by the camera.

This is the original Footage from march 20th 2011. shot on my canon HD AH X1 on my friends property. This is only 4:25 of the 43 minute tape. The camera and tape were damaged. The Tape was scotched taped and crumpled up. I had to have a professional fix it. I exerted my rights and that made derek colling violate my rights. I have NOT made any money on the tape.
I tried to sell the footage at first but, it went Viral and I do Hold the copyright of it now. I contacted media in vegas to sell it but, nobody wanted to show it even. I understand that people have used it to show the injustice and beating I took by LVMPD. If you really want to help, send people to this link. I have asked that people respect my copyright. I have asked but, have NOT gotten any money for selling this video. More to come, Trust me.
It is unclear why Crooks at first told the officer that it was not his house. Regardless, this does not give apolice officer the right to attack a law abiding citizen and then charge him with assault.
In fact, a police officer does not even have the legal authority to claim someone is trespassing. According to an ACLU lawyer, only a resident or property owner can file a trespassing complaint.
